Carl Borden

Unfortunately, my Grabber was grabbed by thieves in 1980. After opening for another band at Galactica 2000 in Sacramento, California, my bandmates and I put our equipment (including my Grabber) in a downstairs storage room so we could watch the next band. When we returned to that room after the show to load it into our vehicles, all of our equipment was gone! That was the end of our band, too. I now have only a Steinberger Q4 bass, which I love. But I do have fond memories of my Grabber. I like having an unusual bass.

Here's a couple of great vintage photos of Carl and his Grabber.

The guy with the bushy blond hair playing the Rickenbacker is Kent Hagen, who recently directed and produced the documentary “Stars and Their Guitars.” It’s available on DVD, at least here in the USA. You should watch it if you can—very informative and entertaining.

You and Richard might enjoy reading the letter in the attached file, which John Entwistle sent me in 1973. It’s my most prized possession.
